The son of Lai Jui-lung (born 2017) is the child of Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Legislative Yuan member Lai Jui-lung and his wife, Chen Yi-yuan. Under the Protection of Children and Youth Welfare and Rights Act of the Republic of China, which safeguards the privacy of minors, his real name remains withheld in media and public reports, and he is widely referred to as “the son of Lai Jui-lung.”
Severe School Bullying and Controversial Settlement
In December 2025, while attending second grade (around eight years old) in Kaohsiung, the boy was accused of multiple instances of severe campus bullying and physical violence, sparking widespread public outrage:
- Chasing and Blockading Restroom: The victim’s parents alleged that the boy chased a female classmate into a school restroom and blockaded her inside for 12 minutes, shouting, “I will beat you to death when you come out.” The victim suffered severe psychological trauma and required professional counseling.
- Prior Incidents of Violence: Leaks revealed that before transferring to his current school, the boy had a history of physical violence against classmates (including children of prominent business families) at his previous school. Critics pointed out that his aggressive behavior was a chronic issue resulting from a lack of proper family guidance.
- Forced Political Settlement: Following the public outcry, Lai Jui-lung held two press conferences to apologize and suspended his son from school. However, on December 27, 2025, Lai allegedly used his political status to publish a joint statement with the victim’s family, downgrading the severe bullying to a simple “dispute between children over a soccer game.” This forced settlement was heavily criticized by legal and educational groups as a blatant abuse of political power to sweep family scandals under the rug.
